Joseph H. Shepard
Born March 22nd 1967 e.v. The earliest memory of the desire “to know” comes from being a child. When it was time for sleep the mind would attempt to imagine what everything is without everything that is. This thought kept my mind awake on many nights, sleep would arrive with this thought in my mind. Then there were dreams, nightmares, delights and other forms of dreaming which were the only answers that I received. The thought continues the question of what everything is, and what would be there in its place if it were “otherwise”. The real need to understand what everything is, why everything is, and how everything works, has always been and always will be foremost.

The mission of Lunaris is to physically manifest the workings of the soul and spirit through the art of dance, ritual, and theater. Dancers act as keepers of the gates and portrayers of the unseen. To experience Lunaris is to remember and awaken into/out of the dream. It is the intention of Lunaris to create experience rather than just performance by breaking the 4th wall where the audience and the dancer meet to collectively define levels of reality.

I am an artist, Hekatean priestess, retired 3* ordained HPS of both NYC Welsh & US/UK lineages of Gardnerian Witchcraft & OTO initiate. Raised in a magickal world immersed in colourful Catholic ritual, Italian folk magick & Masonic mysteries, it was only natural to have wandered into the world of the occult arts & practices of the Craft, to learn the ways of the goat & the snake, in 1986. Magick & art have been and are - my life. I was initiated into the world of tattoo in 1990 & left the private Art Institute of Boston where I was pursuing a degree in illustration to devote my life to this art. In tattooing I discovered a deeply shamanic & intensely sacred history that inspired me to combine spirituality & tattooing to help others on their personal journeys in healing, resurrection & rebirth while working in service to the Old Gods & Ancestors. From ’96-’99 I contributed to statewide efforts to lift the ban on my beloved art in Massachusetts. I’ve been lecturing on the sacred art of tattooing since 1996 for various magickal organizations, at OTO bodies around the country, colleges & universities. I have done years of work both in radio & television, as well as featured in international publications sharing my love & knowledge of tattooing, magick & Traditionalist Witchcraft. I work at & own Good Mojo Tattoos in Beverly, MA with my magician husband, where we maintain a shrine to Hekate & are surrounded by a family of inspiring & creative artists & amazing clients.
